What is Floating?

Floating is the practice of lying in a pod the size of a queen bed filled with ten inches of warm water and over a thousand pounds of Epsom salt, typically for one hour. Floating compresses the recovery time from strenuous physical exercise from a few days to a few hours as the tank minimizes the effects of gravity giving the sensation of weightlessness relieving gravitational pressures on the body to temporarily alleviate soreness. Floating increases blood flow circulation throughout the body and sweeps away toxins that are released from muscles during a workout, massage, or chiropractic session leading to a quicker recovery. The release of muscle tension and spinal decompression soothes and effectively relieves chronic pain.

Floating has been found to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while increasing creativity, energy and mindfulness. Stress is a factor in five out of the six leading causes of death and an estimated 75%-90% of all doctor visits are due to a stress-related component. One hour of floating has been said to be equivalent to four hours of restful sleep, and helps to eliminate jet lag and fatigue. The majority of Americans are deficient in magnesium. When deficient, we become irritable and fatigued. A float session replenishes magnesium level and relaxes the muscles promoting a sense of general well-being, often called the ā€œPost-Float Glow.ā€
